Spectra of time series of "whitened" residual
(noise is levelled as it appears at the stage of least-squares adjustment).

Black curve: Power spectrum of whitened residual, auto-covariance length 8192, Kaiser-Bessel window
Red curve: Periodogram, Hanning windowed
Gray band: Low-order PEF power spectrum, determines the level of uncertainty. See the wide-band power spectra.
Wall paper "up to the roof", light blue and gray: shows the width of the wavegroups given by the partial tides in Tamura's development at degree 2.
Wall paper "near the floor": like before but for degree 3.
For degree 4, one wavegroup in each fundamental band.
Darwin symbols and dark purple lines: The central  (the largest) partial wave in each wavegroup.
Dots: Partial tide amplitudes, not drawn to scale. Blue: degree 2; black enhanced with an x: degree 3; cyan: degree 4.

Notice the overlap of degree 3 species and degree 2 wavegroups.

Black: "Raw" residual; red: whitened residual; light blue: the PEF filter (order=10, not drawn to scale)
